Palmetto Training, Inc. is accepting new students for our CDL program. The course is 4 to 6 Weeks on Weekdays or 8 to 12 Weeks on Weekends (Saturday and Sunday) – a total of 148 hours. The CDL program is offered at our Walterboro, North Charleston & Sumter location. Students are required to have a valid South Carolina driver’s license. DOT physical and Class a CDL permit before starting the course. Must be 18 years of age or older to be eligible to enroll.
Pre-trip inspection, shifting, coupling and uncoupling, straight line backing, offset backing, parallel parking, proper position of fifth wheel and adjust sliding tandems.
Motor carrier safety regulations, correct log book procedures, defensive driving, brake system, accident reports, fire safety, and training materials to prepare to pass permit test at the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Two lane roads, divided highways, left turns on city streets, right turns on city streets, changing lanes, merging into traffic, proper actions at scales, safely fueling vehicle, night driving (3 hours), docking at a commercial dock.
Students will observe the operation of the commercial vehicle in the areas indicated above. Instructor will comment on areas that students should pay special attention to as vehicle is operated.
